Primary Bedroom Refresh - ORC - Week 2

I have been so inspired by all of the amazing mood boards that I have seen in Week 1, that I decided to make one too! I really enjoyed putting this together. I will now be making mood boards every little chance I get.

Everything I’m using to put this room together has been acquired over the past decade, with the exception of the ceiling fan and the desk chair that will be purchased locally from stores in Saskatoon.

Well the first week didn’t go quite as planned due to sick kids, some progress has been made.

The beams that I have been dreaming about removing every night as lay underneath them, are finally down! As is the fan that wasn’t functional. I was happy to see a light box when I removed the ceiling fan as all the other light fixtures we have replaced required an electrician to get things up to code. This one I will be able to do without hiring it out!

Not much more to share as I spent most of the past week taking care of kids who had to stay home from school. But I have decided to do the one thing I told myself I wouldn’t… scrape the ceiling. I plan to just remove the popcorn texture and paint what remains, leaving some subtle texture behind. I originally was wanting to do beadboard or tongue and groove ceiling but have decided against it due to cost and use of materials. I always try to minimize the amount of materials used to complete a project without compromising my vision.

That’s all for this week, hopefully I will have more progress to share next week as the kids are feeling better and the weather warms up. In the meantime make sure you check out all the amazing rooms being shared at One Room Challenge and follow along on Instagram for more sneak peaks and behind the scenes!
